‘Urbana Conference’ that plants the passion for the youths to enter the mission field begins on Dec. 27 in St. Louis, Mo ends on 31st.
The ‘Urbana Conference’ gathering over 20,000 registrants every 3 years began with 575 participants in 1946 at Toronto Canada and till 2003 about 220,000 students participated.
Meanwhile attendants have been presented with vision of mission from worldwide famous evangelist’s speakers and numerous students dedicated their lives as missionary, pastor and teachers.
Since the student movement at the end of 19th century in US the ‘Urbana Conference’ has shown the biggest influence on international mission movement of students, and each international mission organizations and recently with Korea mission organizations participating are finding workers for the world mission.
InterVarsity headquarters announced that in 2003 about 3,500 Asians have participated, and this year with the Korea mission organizations participating many are drawing attention.
This conference the main speakers include Ajith Fernando (National Director, Youth for Christ/ Sri Lanka), Oscar Muriu (Pastor, Nairobi Chapel Nairobi/Kenya), Ray Bakke (Regent’s Chair & Acting Academic Dean, Bakke Graduate University), Rick Warren (Pastor, Saddleback Church), Terrence Nichols (Pastor, New Hope Community Church).
